Blocksmith Studios
Ceramic Artwork by Andrew Block
Hello!
My name is Andrew Block and I am the artist behind Blocksmith Studios.
My name is Andrew Block and I am currently pursuing a major in art education at Concordia University Wisconsin. It is my goal to teach art to high school students. I have been making art my whole life and focusing on ceramics over the past 3 years. My other passions include hiking, nature, spending time with my wonderful fiancée, board games, and video games. This website is a portfolio, gallery, and shop for my art.
Artist Statement
I believe what got me so invested into art was the feeling of being challenged to think for myself and think creatively. Being able to create something on my own is a wonderful experience. I enjoy both the natural world along with the fantasy world. In my art today, I work to create aspects of the natural and mix them with fantasy or contemporary ideas. I seek to make art that is functional while also being a representation of themes between the natural world and fantasy/contemporary elements.
Dragon Incense Burners
With Dragons being a very influential part of my life, I wanted to create some decorative yet functional pieces.
Recent Work

Mushroom Sculptures
Mushrooms are my favorite organism and are always an intuiting subject to make art of.
Campfire Diorama
I greatly enjoy making dioramas as I can play around with many different compositions. I wanted to do something cute and whimsical so I created this.
Flesh Vessels
Inspired by the work of the Polish painter/photographer Zdzisław Beksiński, these two vessels were hand built and the tendrils of flesh were meticulously attached to it. These pieces are crafted to be slightly unsettling.
Pieces for Sale
Purchase any artwork that I have for sale.
Commissions
If there is nothing for sale that catches your eye, consider sending me an email for a commission. I am fairly flexible with what I create and will be happy to discuss ideas and prices.
